“Enjoy the little things in life as one day you’ll realise they were the big things” Robert Brault
Christmas. New Year. Birthdays. Anniversaries. The list of cultural celebrations is long. Sometimes we can get so caught up in buying the perfect present or hosting the perfect meal that we forget to stop and notice the less obvious causes for celebration. To stop and notice the roses, so to speak.
Our personal milestones are one of these areas that deserve as much, maybe even more, celebration. Things like taking risks. Making good decisions. Finally letting go of old “stuff” physically or emotionally. Small steps like these can become key points in our personal growth and wellbeing.
Looking back and reflecting on all the good things in our lives is a brilliant way to end the year and prepare for the next. Taking the time to think about your life over the past year, the people in it, the experiences you had, and the person you have become.
It’s amazing how much we can take for granted until we stop and take the time to appreciate.
These questions will help you to celebrate all that’s been great this past year.
Take some time to ponder…
1. Who or what has helped me this year to grow into who I am today?
2. What big lessons did I learn this year?
3. Who, and what, deserves celebrating as the year draws to a close?
Appreciating what you have in your life, and the positives you have as a person, is a true path to happiness and fulfilment.
What comes to mind as you read these questions? Enjoy the process of recalling what’s been good in your life in 2017. Then take some time to celebrate these in whatever way seems most fitting. 🙂
